capturing live full-screen dv

MessageAuthor

Hello, Is it possible to capture picture from miniDV DVCAM camcorder (important - not from tape) using full-screen preview? I'm trying to set up system for recording conferences. The camcorder is hooked to PC through firewire and picture is shown (important - full screen, no borders) on secondary monitor - LCD display in this case. Because conferences last around 3h I don't want to replace tapes. Instead I would like to save picture directly on HDD. Any hints? Thanks for help.

It's not speed that kills, it's the speed difference that does. Obviously you aren't going fast enough. Turning Benjamins into noise since 1997 I read a list of the 100 things you MUST do before you die. Funny, "Yelling 'HELP'" didn't make the list!

Just use WinDV :p For DVCAM there's these HDD add-ons that are connected by FireWire to the camcorder.

Yes, WinDV seems to be working fine, however I can't put it in full screen mode (without borders). Maybe I'll try to modify sources ...

Why do you need to display fullscreen for capturing conferences?

I use projector to show big view on projector screen - sorry, I didn't describe it exactly in my first post. For full-screeen preview I've been using CaptureFlux (similar to WinDV), but for some reason it doesn't capture well when recording live video, although capturing from tapes works fine.

Why do you need to display fullscreen for capturing conferences? Still don't get what you're up to.... You see, any camcorder (except the very profi ones) have at least another video output that you can simply connect to your projector.

Yes, and this is a problem, because it depends on a hall. Sometimes projectors have video input, sometimes not, but always have VGA input. So for me it's safer to be able to capture from full screen firewire input.
