Simple Problem w/recording that I can't solve! Help!

I just got Reaper, figured it would be a good step up from Audacity. I'm having problems with the simplest of things, though: whenever I record, it records the other tracks that are playing, and for the life of me I can't find the option to record ONLY the input signal as opposed to the stereo mix. Any help you can give me? **EDIT** I seem to have figured it out. I have a horribly gerry-rigged setup, and I must've crossed my playback and recording interfaces on the sound card. Or something.
