expand track control panel on arm record

MessageAuthor

hi, i am relatively new to reaper and am getting on with it just fine. however, at some point in a recording session last night, i must have made an incorrect keystroke somewhere and enabled behavior that, while certainly possessing its advantages, is not what i want and i can't figure out how to undo it!!! at some point i caused this to occur but i don't know when, exactly. suddenly, the bulk of the track control panel (fader, meter, fx button, and envelope menu button) only appears on a track if it is record-armed. so each track is very skinny and consumes less screen real estate unless i click record arm, then the track's buttons appear like normal and it takes up the amount of space it usually does. i can see how this might be useful but it is not the behavior i desire right now. i noticed in the preferences menu, i can uncheck the 'always show full track control panel on armed tracks' in the audio/recording submenu, and this behavior changes. the track remains condensed no matter if record armed or not. expectedly, this has nothing to do with toggling the behavior on and off to begin with. has to be some keyboard shortcut i incidentally used. makes sense, i've set up some custom ones and i might have tapped a wrong key, triggering a factory shortcut without knowing. anyway, i feel silly, i've wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what i did wrong and reset track behavior to its default, where all the buttons are displayed regardless of a given track's record arm status. newbieland seems the place to solve this. tom

Check in Reaper's preferences... in the 'Project' section by 'Track/Send' defaults, you can set track size options. You can also double click the scroll bar in the TCP to 'step' through the track size. Enjoy.
