Hi! I have a serious problem... I've decrypted DVD (DVDDecrypter 3.1.2.0 in SPTI mode in WinXP) to my HD & decrypted the video from it (that was o.k.), but when I try to get audio with VOB2AUDIO or DVD2AVI, it creates empty wav/ac3 files. But when I play the ripped DVD files with PowerDVD XP, it plays sound normally... could anyone tell me what's wrong? Thanks! I think that something must be wrong with DVDDecrypter because before I installed this new version, all was o.k. (except it didn't find my DVD drive (TOSHIBA M1502) so I had to install WinME and decrypt it there) I tried to use vStrip. It created AC3 file, which appears to be empty when I play it in WMP with audio codecs I downloaded from here (and which play other AC3 normally) but PowerDVD XP plays it o.k. Is there any way to get normally playable soud file from this? Only way to do it is through HeadAC3he, but this is at least three times longer than normally (VOB2AUDIO)
Yup, I had the same problem. I used the latest DVD Decryptor(Auto-Alert for new versions turned on), and for some reason, ended up with a DVD extra that was missing the soundtrack after the rip. It was strange because PowerDVD says it had Dolby 2.0, but maybe it was a silent/dummy soundtrack? I see that the author has been very actively updating it lately, maybe there is a bug?
The ripper cant just 'lose' the audio stream. You have to specifically tell it not to include it via stream processing, otherwise the vob is copied 'as-is' but minus the CSS. None of the pro's that use my program (i.e. Doom9) have mentioned anything, so I dont suppose its a problem with the program itself. Are you doing anything in the way of stream processing? which 'Mode' of the program are you using? IFO, File?
I used file mode. The DVDs I decrypted were "Kevin & Perry go large" & "Hannibal". The strange thing was that DVDDecrypter 3.1.2.0 in SPTI mode said that these DVDs have no copyprotection & didn't use a key (key was N/A). Unfortunately, I didn't test it in Win9x ASPI - the mode I used before this new version.
Finally, I know the reason for this. VOB2AUDIO doesn't have its own AC3 decoder and I found out that I had incorrectly installed AC3 codecs from this page so it always created blank files which could be played only with PowerDVD XP which has its own AC3 codec. I'm sorry.
First I'd like to say that I LOVE DVDDecryptor. I switched to it from Smartripper because of all the cool new features/Gui. Great work! "The ripper can't just 'lose' the audio stream." Well, the extra had an AC3 audio track, but it was silent. The DVD may very well have a silent AC3 track, and I've never seen that before (maybe the authors forgot the sound?). Unfortunately, I don't have the original available right now, or I would check. It seemed similar to the problem Kuba was having, but apparantly for different reasons. :)
