BD-RB Fast Mode for BD25

MessageAuthor

I'm not sure why you rip to an iso instead of a hard drive folder, but if it's working for you that's great. I use the fast mode for BD-25's as well and have noticed no quality issues at all. I did switch back to 2 pass encoding. It doesn't take much longer and the sizing seems more accurate.

When going to BD-25 in movie-only mode, you'll find that the fastest mode is more than sufficient in almost all cases. The exception might be a really long movie (3+ hours).

I use auto setting for sizes up to 35GB. If the original disc is more than 35GB, I use the good option with two pass ABR.

Same here. 2-3 hours with fast mode (1 pass). Two pass takes another 2 hours.

Caring more about quality audio/video than I do about how long it runs, I generally run in movie only mode retaining lossless audio with BD25 output to hard disc, but at the highest quality setting, causing a 2 pass run. These generally run 5 hours or so (high speed quad-core AMD, 8GB memory, source on a Sata3 drive with output on a separate Sata3 drive). I make good use of the "shut down when finished" option as I tend to fire this process up late in the evening and just walk away. I burn in a separate step using imgburn to a Lite-On BD burner. The quality of the output is excellent (including the printing on the inkjet printable BD25 media).
