WIn XP & .wav Audio files

MessageAuthor

Problem with .wav audio files the ProTools LE for Windows creates for each take in a session. I would like to use these files that PTools creates however on many Windows XP systems the Media Player gives an error message that the "Microsoft PCM Format (1) codec is not installed on your computer". Microsoft website directs to a 3rd Party codec site that also does not have this codec. Any ideas on how to acquire, install or any workaround appreciated. I DO have the pro tools setting "force Windows MAC compatibility" checked.

It sounds like you are working at a bit depth and/or sample rate that media player does not support; what sample/bit rate are the files in your session(s)?

probably recording in 24 bit. wm player can play different sample rates but i'm pretty sure there hasnt been a plugin made to play 24 bit wavs. i think there is a 24 bit wma format however although i wouldnt use it for anything.

Ditto. Windows Media Player will not play 24 bit files so dither and bounce to 16 bit.
