Yay, another BCF2000 problem...

So I enjoyed using this w/ reaper for a couple months. Now, it has stopped working completely. Before that it had stopped giving me feedback response on the rotary knobs LED's and only getting feedback on the faders. But it's totally dead and not working at all. Also, BC Manager is not finding it and I can't send any data to it to reset it or anything. The weird thing is it works perfectly in Reason with feedback on all rotarys and faders... It was originally setup according to the instructions on this thread here: Anyone, have any idea how to fix this POS? If not, I'm throwing it in the trash.

Resolved how? Sharing the fix might help others who run across similar issues later -- even if it was user error ;).

what i find more interesting is this "w/" i've been seeing used on forums. i know it means "with", but why??? do you feel "cool" saying "w/" rather than "with"? would I be considered "cool" if i joined the "W/" clan or am i already cool w/o??

Hm.... any relation to the WTF?????????? clan? And of course we have to assume that if the OP DOESN`T share his fix, he is too embarrassed to admit to whatever dumbo trick he accidentally pulled that caused the problem in the first place. (heh heh heh)

yeah, totally me overlooking the Control surfaces in preferences. Actually, there were a few problems that had to be worked out in order. I was having problems with the computer finding the usb connection in the first place. it seems to only work when it's plugged into a certain port. After I got it up working again, i started trying to fix a problem I was having where after preset 5 it would no longer sync the faders and nothing past P-5 could control anything. I also have my mixer set to display only 8 tracks at once, the 8 tracks that the BCF is controlling. And after 5 nothing would display. So I just jumped right in a and started figuring out SWS reaconsole commands. Felt like my old computer days on DOS. Anyway, I figured out what to do and now I can control all the way up to P-7. The new problem right now is that anything past P-7, 8,9, 10... etc. sends the same MIDI command as P-7 so i can't link those preset changes to anything in the actions list b/c it just over rights P-7. Anyone know why P-8 and beyond are not sending new MIDI commands? And the "w/" yeah, means with. It's shorthand. I use it all the time along with "b/c" for because. I use w/o too. The reason is b/c you want to convey your point w/o getting hung up on useless words. I assure you I'm not cool. :-)

Well your avatar is definitely cool and that is all that really counts, eh? Biggest problem I have with the BCF is that mine just worked, so I have never had to do any debugging. Thanks for posting what went wrong, as user-created problems are in a way more important to document than bugs, since bugs get fixed around here, but dumbass meatware problems only get logged if they are discussed. The USB thingy seems to be very common. on my lappy it always wants to reload the device driver if I plug it in a different USB port. Real pain and it doesnt seem to happen on either one of my desktops. There again I generally use the samke front port every time on them. I`ll see if I can reproduce your problem with P8 on up.
