DVD Lab - right tool for the job?

MessageAuthor

I've got an original/factory Magnolia (USA/1999) DVD with navagation errors and I'd like to create another DVD without the mistakes. Please confirm the following steps: 1. Rip to hard drive using DVDDecrypter 2. Correct navagation errors (re-author?) using DVD Lab - (Pro?) 3. Compile and burn to dual layer media, DVD-9 Although I'm new to all this, I feel this first "project" is going to require more than a one-click authoring solution and so I'm here in the advanced forum. Thanks.

well.. what problems are there exactly? It may well be that this is a matter for a tool like PgcEdit (so no authoring required).

Why does my title change to "Mr" each time i "submit"? Displays correctly when I "preview". ........................................................................................... Here's the top level menu frame you see (powerDVD player), hit play, beginning of DVD: color bars frank t.j. mackey seminar mackey infomercial teaser trailer tv spots "save me" music video magnolia diary ................................. I can access any of the above chapters by point/click with mouse. I cannot move from chapter to chapter using the Power DVD navagation bar (move mouse to top of screen to activate navigation bar with forward/reverse chapter step buttons) main frame-> hit play button-> plays color bars->move mouse to top of frame->hit next chapter button-> back to main frame (with a "Chapter 2" displayed in green, upper right, each time the main frame is revisited) Each chapter works this way... I want the "next chapter forward/reverse" button to take me to an adjacent chapter, not back to the main frame. Now, if you go into the "tv spots" chapter there are 9 spots (sub-chapters) tv spots display frame: spot1 spot2 spot3 spot4 spot5 spot6 spot7 spot8 spot9 I can point/click on any spot, than go to the navagation bar hit the forward or reverse step button to any adjacent spot. The navagation at this level seems to work the way I think it should.

While some behaviour might be eliminated by removing restrictions & such without re-authoring, think it might be easier to go that route since you want to change things a bit: "I want the "next chapter forward/reverse" button to take me to an adjacent chapter, not back to the main frame. " I'd personally recommend going through guides and posts to get DVD on your hard drive -> strip out video/audio streams -> use authoring prog (DVD Lab should be fine) to do layout. I think you'll find that while not really advanced or difficult, this project will still be a fair amount of work. Reading up on it before hand will give you an opportunity to both get the software you'll use, and decide if it's going to be worth it to you -- might find you can live with current DVD short-commings.
