I "was" Diamond+SSL TDM owner... But I found that I was only using VERY few of those plugs so I decided to sell off at least the Diamond bundle... So I contacted waves sales by phone. I almost got a heart attack. My iLok (zero downtime covered) hold the SSL and Diamond license and numerous other licenses. I told the waves guy of my intention and he said NO problem: This is what you need to do: 1) Make sure your Diamond is WUP covered before the sale - else the new owner WILL NOT be able to register it. 2) Send your ilok to waves in the US or Israel - we'll need to destroy it. Then we'll give the Diamond license to the new owner and you will receive the SSL license AGAIN. 3) That's it.... I hung up and chewed on that for a few hours... Then I did some insurance research and called again... I told the waves guy this: 1) Who is going to pay for the current "zero downtime" of the ilok and for the destroyed ilok? He answered : YOU 2) I informed him that NO insurance - be it Postal or my insurance are ready to cover LOST ilok licenses only the hardware ilok... which is about $40 but what about the $50000 worth of plug licenses on it.... He said: I would have to carry that risk... As I asked him what waves would do if the ilok got lost: He said, waves will NOT cover the license loss should the ilok and the two waves licenses get lost on the post way. I told him that this option is less than humane and that they would have to figure something else out for me as there was NO WAY that I would send an ilok holding a Diamond + SSL TDM license via post if no one is covering the value should it get lost. He then told me that then I could NOT legally sell my license. I asked him why they just could not make the ilok licenses transferable like EVERY other plug license. He said: PACE (ilok) are NOT waves compatible and that is was a flaw in the software of PACE that COULD NOT HOLD ALL THE "STELLAR" Plug components of waves... I told him that I thought that he was full of what comes out of a human after eating.... He insured me that in waves version 6 the licenses would be transferable. I asked him how that could be if the flaw was a PACE flaw... He started to stutter.... And told me that I could either believe him or not but that he was telling me the truth. Apparently the PACE flaw was due to waves having so many plugs in one package.... So I asked him if it was possible to buy ONE waves plug.. He must have smiled cuz his answer was somehow delighted "Yes, of course - for instance one could buy the C1" then I asked him if one could transfer that ilok license and he said no.... Then I told him that the PACE flaw in that case could NOT be related to toooooooo many plug components in one package... Even at this point he was standing fast on the fact that PACE was the culprit in waves not being able to make transferable ilok licenses... So now I had one other question: Are waves TDM and RTAS sounding the same.... He replied : 100% - a tdm and rtas will cancel each other out when presented with the same setting.... I then asked him why the TDM version was twice as expensive.... He said that when buying the TDM one got the RTAS version and all other native version as well... I just find it strange that when buying the NATIVE version one gets ALL other formats than TDM but if they all sound the same then in my book the NATIVE version should be at least as expensive... Or they should make a TDM RTAS version only... I find this waves company 100% repulsive & repugnant. NO company on earth (what I know of) has such criminal and NON HUMANE policies. I am DUMPING waves for good. The whole enchilada - even if they made a HIT plug-in in the future with knobs that would turn easily I would NOT invest even half a dime in anything deriving from waves. If WUP was a borderline bitch then "selling a plug" is a full blown hooker.
