Are you using Reaper 3 or 4pre?

Could be interesting to see. It seems many are using V4 already.

produced a pop-rock album and a few other songs in v4alphas. the album/production is on the market/radio/tv now, and ppl seem to like it so far. i had not much more bugs/issues w/ v4alphas than i had w/ v3 finals.

From the numbers in this thread 4Alpha is looking pretty stable. I have never before seriously considered using an Alpha release for production but I may do just that (I already had it installed to monkey around with WALTER anyway); assuming I don't run into any of the current limitations it's more time to learn the new UI if nothing else.

RE: Are you using Reaper 3 or 4pre?

I was using Reaper v4 alpha 65 last weekend to record a band who was doing a video session. I used a Presonus Firestudio with 2 additional 8CH preamps. Reaper also provided the stereo cue mixes for the band and the camera team, 6 stereo cues in total. I was running at 64 samples, and had to use some vst eqs and compressors. I also hooked it up to my Mackie Control, which provided me with the feeling of a digital monitor-console. The session was really time critical and went from 9am to 11pm (packing up not included). So Reaper took the role of both a HD-Recorder AND a Monitor-Console for 14 hours. It didn't even drop one sample. I'm going to marry it...

I use both: 3 in my day job (radio) and 4 at my home studio.

For those who say a few things have changed you need to check out the prefs and the mouse modifier page in particular as most things can be made to work like reaper 3. As for using 4, I'm guilty as charged ;) but schwa has stated that it is an alpha and so some things can change from alpha to alpha. This has already happened with the project bay and the panning but it will only break alpha 4 behaviour NOT reaper 3 behaviour and as long as you are careful you should be fine with 4. I know I am! :)

4a for everything including client work here. There's too much in V4 that I've gotten used to to go back to 3. Besides, 4a has been as solid as a rock for the most part here. Far more so than ProTools currently is.
