New to Protools- Monitoring via 002

I'm a total PT newbie and just bought a DIGI 002 to run PTLE and DP4 through. My question (one among hundreds) is can I monitor my Triton through the 002 without a DP or PT session open? I'm used to a mixer setup, so all this is foreign to me. I know that there is the alt source to monitors option, and I have my CD player plugged into that. I just am wondering if since the computer and CD player can play through the 002 with no session, is there a way for my keyboard (plugged into analog 7-8) to as well? Thanks! I'll have many more questions for y'all in soon!

The digi002 can run in stand alone mode (just turn the unit on, push the button stand alone, and confirm the question in the display, there you go) In stand alone mode, no cpu or protools session is needed, you even have acces to the built in EQ and efx section in the digi002.
