Hi guys. Does anybody know how to change the radio antenna on a volvo s40 '02? Iv taken the antenna control unit apart, but i cant seem to find what i need to take out to replace the aerial! Any help is much appreciated.
I've just fitted an electric aerial (genuine Volvo from e-bay) into car that had manual aerial (stuck up). Wiring loom was already there, fitted perfectly and worked first time. Amazing how long you can stare at an electric aerial going up and down when you haven't had one before!
Got a 'How to' or is it so easy? Also what wiring is there and where to find it? Pics would be great....envy again is dangerous.....another weekend of busy S40 tinkering ahead...lastly how much was the aerial?

Had to put in my 2peneth worth in this regard. I had exactly the same problem as everyone else, new volvo antenna would not fit,yet the advice says 'its easy' Point of fact ,it is easy. The problem I suspect that everyone has is that there is a broken part of the old antenna still in the main body!!! Just get a 9.5 mm HS drill bit and drill out the offending broken part, you can then easily fit the new one as described ie. turn the radio on then get your new antenna at the ready with the nylon serrated cord in your right hand. Now turn off the radio and insert the nylon cord into the main body and you will find at a certain point, the inner gear will pick it up.Now replace the top nut and bob's your uncle, job done. Remember to insert the cord with the serrations facing towards the front of the car!!
