Trimming Punch

MessageAuthor

Given that Reaper is non-destructive, is there any way to move the punch-out point after you've recorded it? For instance, if a good punch take goes a little longer than expected, or especially if it's shorter, I'd like to shift that point at which we go back to the original recording. But whenever I try to do that, it either simply lengthens the cross-fade rather than shifting the edge of the punch section when I try to make the punch section smaller, or it cuts out the original track without replacing it with punched material when I try to make it longer. Thanks

Yes. Literally just drag whichever edge of the item you want to change.

Thanks, but as I said, if I grab the back edge of the punch and try to move it, it just changes the crossfade, rather than moving the edge of the section

maybe try to drag the original item's edge first so the items are abutting & not crossfaded
