i have a p4.im using the audiomedia III card.when i install the software im assuming everything is fine until i click on the pro tools icon.it comes up like its loading but then it just goesback to my desktop.has anyone else had this problem? thanks, wayn
hello?are we the only ones with this problem?it gets to setting up midi and then goes back to my desktop.someone please help me i cant afford the mbox.
It can be that Pro Tools when loading doesn't recognize the Audiomedia Card in your computer. Try to disable any other sound card in your computer in CONTROL PANEL. Usually digidesign software won't open if it doesn't recognize the Audio Media soundcard. Disable the Windows XP sound and any other soundcard devices and try again. See if this work, otherwise post again.
ok. i tried that but its still doing the same thing.let me explain exactly what it is doing so it'll give a more clear picture.i click on the pro tools icon>the big grey pro tools screen comes up that has the digidesign logo on it>the smaller mostly blue window opens up in the middle of the grey digidesign screen with a progress bar at the bottom>it goes through a series of loading different aspects of pro tools such as plugins, dae, and when it gets to setting up midi, the screen goes away and returns to my desktop.

I was wondering if this problem can be fixed by uninstalling PRO TOOLS. Reinstall the AUDIOMEDIA card in a different PCI slot. Reinstall again PRO TOOLS. I know it is a pain to reauthorize all the plug-ins. You also can try to do this: The MIDI cables you are using are defective. Take out the midi cables. Reboot the computer and restart Pro Tools, so you'll know if it is a midi problem. Can it be a memory problem: You are running 384mb of memory. Maybe by increasing the memory to 512mb can resolve the problem. It looks like that when you open PRO TOOLS it load all the plug-ins etc... and then suddenly PRO TOOLS stops. Maybe there is not enough juice. Try to disable the Virtual Memory and see how the computer behave. It can be an Hard Drive problem: How many Hard Drives do you have? You should have two hard drives one for the System where Pro-Tools is installed and the other one dedicated for the Audio. Anthony Tarantino
