My service light is now on. Have owned the car for around 12 months, and there was absolutely no history with it. I'm planning on doing the service myself (i'm a fairly handy home mechanic, with access to most tools). The question is.........what should I be doing??!! Obviously I know about: Oil change Oil filter Fuel filter Air filter But what about other stuff? (Can be a bit grumpy starting from cold, so will do the heater plugs) If anyone has a definitive list of what should be done at this kind of mileage, that would be a big help! Many thanks in advance, Rob
Ok - Here is the V40 Service info - I didn't know which engine you have but I imagine they are much the same in terms of what gets done... Good luck!

Thanks for that Liberty - I'm in the same position as Rob (175K & no history). Rob, do a search on these forums for the Service Light reset procedures, it varies according to year/model etc but worked for my yr 2000 1.9 D. Some "entrepreneur" is charging 1.99 for the very same freely available info on ebay. Mines is also a B*****d to start from cold, I've changed the heater plugs but that hasn't improved things. I've finally got my backup car on the road again (Scimitar - had to change the rear axle) so I can now finally start pulling the Volvo apart to see what the underlying problem is. Cheers
the fuel filter on these is a sod, as you have to move the fuse box to get to it, but it can easily be done with care, you need to move the air intake cover and duct out of the way first.
