problem with 'Hitch' dvd

MessageAuthor

Hi guys, got a bit problem with 'hitch' dvd, I bought it in adelaide, the dvd region is 4 (PAL) and i ripped it using dvddecrypter, frameserve it using dgindex 1.4.1, rip the subtitle using subrip 1.30b7 and i got a bit problem the video file just shown black picture (totally black) for around 4 minutes+... so the total length of the movie is around 1:58, and the subtitle give the exact same length, but for the audio it's only 1:53, try to synchronized it but so difficult... and also when first play the audio got a bit of documentary...it's so weird... try with different track and all the track is wrong execpt the documentary one (only first few seconds got documentary)... and the other problem is i convert to divx, and i'm using ac3 audio, then i put it in .mkv file and if i try to play in WMP I can't skip to the other part, if i try to, the movie won't play. if i play with BSPlayer i got error message (can't even play at all) try to convert to .avi, if i play on WMP i can skip but the audio won't play at all if i skip the time.... Anyone knows how to fix this? It's really weird problem...never had this kind of problem before.....

RE: problem with 'Hitch' dvd

@gangtengx Hi! As an alternative to the suggestions made by "BSpielbauer", I've found it very simple to: 1) First use SmartRipper in "Stream Processing" mode to extract properly multiplexed audio/video/subtitles streams (only those desired) as .VOBs from the hard drive files created by DVD Decrypter 2) Then use the SmartRipper-created files for conversion to .AVI. 3) Then use VirtualDub (Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy") to trim off the initial black screen period

thanks guys for the reply, but if i re-rip the vob file, how about the subtitle (.srt) file?it means i need to readjust the whole timing again? i don't want to make the subtitle fixed in the movie, coz i'm thinking of using mkv file so i can just choose whether i want the subtitle or not....

Still curious - did you use ISO mode in the first attempt? DVDFab Decrypter will remove those black intros. :)

RE: problem with 'Hitch' dvd

I also had a problem with Hitch. Maybe it is the same as yours. There was one broken cell (I know it was one out of the first 15 cells). In DVDDecrypter (IFO mode), I just deselected the cell and everything worked. Afterwards, the AC3 stream had an delay of 1600ms.

RE: problem with 'Hitch' dvd

@AndiDog - That delay is wayyyyy outa spec. @gantengx - I just ripped in file mode, all files with DVD Decrypter no need for DVD Fab Decrypter at all. There is no need to do anything to the VM commands - the movie plays perfectly in full disk or even in DVD Shrink re-author mode as the first 10 cells have been blanked by DVD Decrypter. In any event, in re-author mode, you can chop out the 3 or 4 seconds of blackness if you are really worried about it. PgcDemux is as easy as pie. DL it from the VobBlanker site. Load in the IFO with the movie (it's VTS_08_0.IFO for the R4 DVD). Pick an output folder (I use New Folder on the Desktop). Pick PGC 1 (the movie). Tick video, all audio and all subs. Click Process and you will end up with an m2v, some ac3s and various sups. Discard the unneeded ac3 and sups. If the subtitles are not in the format you like use SubtitleCreator or similar to convert. Regards
