OK, here is the situation. I have an 80 minute piece. It came in as 2 OMF's (1st half and 2nd half). The picture came in on a DV tape. I loaded the DV tape into VVTR. I loaded the audio from the DV into PT as a reference. The first half is fine. When it gets to the seconf OMF the sync is out. However the sync of the refernece audio, which I took right off the DV tape, is also out of sync with the picture but is in sync with the OMF. AND... the picture and audio are locked perfectly on the DV tape. What's going on? Is it something with the way the picture went into VVTR? Everything is video referenced, and everythiong is 29.97 drop. It is off by a few frames, but it is not consistent. i.e if I slide the whole second half together, parts will be in and parts will be out. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks

Nope, everything is 48k, 29.97 drop. I've done some more checking. If I have PT chase the DV deck it locks accurately, so it must have something to do with VVTR. Has anyone had problems with sync after loading a long piece into VVTR? It often seems to drift after a while.

I've had no drift problems with VVTR. I do use the Aurora Igniter card which has genlock, so VVTR is locked to blackburst. What video card are you using? BTW on occassion the genlock preference on my Igniter Control Panel has become de-selected so I ddoublecheck it now and then.
Thanks Bob. That certainly could be the problem. The deck is gen locked when I load the video into VVTR, but VVTR itself is not genlocked. I am going through a Canapus ADVC 100 firewire box which has no vid ref input. Basically I've just been working slightly out of sync, then when it's time to do playbacks I lock to my deck. Not ideal, but it does the trick. By the way, thanks again for the offer to help out with that gig, sorry it didn't work out. However, that same situation will probably crop up again, in which case you will be the first place I call.
Which OS are you using? I've seem some really weird behavior out of VVTR using drop-frame and PAL with OS X. No problems with OS 9... but I don;t trust it in X.
