bounce to disc problem

when I bounce to disc, it takes way longer than the song and makes the file that much longer. Ex: bouncing a 3 minute song, it takes 8 minutes to an hour, and the file has all of this extra silent space at the end. Thanks.

What I do is set a marker about a second before the song starts, and one at the end of the song (taking into account any reverb at the end, as to not chop it off abruptly). Highlight from marker to marker, and voila!
